A Cybertruck owner has become the source of mockery after a small glitch with his Tesla made it undrivable.

An American dad’s attempt at being a good father took a humiliating turn when his futuristic Tesla Cybertruck broke down in front of a dozen young baseball players.

The Ohio father shared his nightmare ordeal on a Tesla Cybertruck Owners’ forum on Facebook, explaining how a minor issue with the EV’s front trunk sent the vehicle into limp mode, making it nearly undrivable.

The frustrated owner explained that the problems started when he placed his son’s gear in the frunk (front trunk), which had been “slightly misaligned”. This small misalignment allowed for only a few centimetres of movement, which was enough for the vehicle’s sensors to detect a fault.

“The freaking latch decided to allow an inch or two of up and down movement, but not actually unlatch.,” he wrote in his post.

The truck then entered limp mode, capping its speed to just 24km/h (15mph).

“Despite the frunk not being able to open, the truck was aware it was not fully closed and retracted,” the Tesla owner said.

As if it couldn’t get any worse, the group of baseball-playing children, who only a few minutes before thought the EV was awesome, quickly turned on the Cybertruck driver and became the subject of mockery when the truck was winched onto a tow truck.

“I was stuck with a $50 Uber bill, and 28 10-year-old kids went from thinking the Cybertruck was the coolest vehicle to pointing and laughing as it was towed away on a flatbed truck.”

Tesla’s Cybertruck has been praised for its bold, angular design and hi-tech features, but this Ohai owner has learned the hard way that even cutting-edge technology can come to a halt due to a simple glitch.
