In an exciting marriage of style and sporting grandeur, luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has just unveiled two bespoke trophy trunks set to take centre stage at the Australian Open. Scheduled to kick off on January 14 in Melbourne, these magnificent trunks stand as a testament to the harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation, qualities both the renowned brand and the illustrious sporting event share.

Crafted with meticulous precision by Louis Vuitton’s skilled artisans in the historic ateliers of Asnières just outside Paris, the trunks serve as guardians to the prestigious Australian Open trophies — the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup and the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup. Adorned in the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram canvas and framed with classic lozine leather trim, these trunks exude an air of timeless sophistication.

Intricate design features showcase Louis Vuitton’s dedication to perfection, including brass corner protectors, locks, and clasps reminiscent of the brand’s storied heritage since the 1860s. A stroke of artistic brilliance unfolds as the trunks’ front panels, adorned with a bold white V, elegantly unveil the trophies within, alluding to both “victory” and “Vuitton”. Lined with a luxurious blue microfibre, echoing the tournament’s colour palette and signature blue courts, the trunks culminate with the subtle imprint of the Australian Open logo — a white AO.

Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Tennis Australia to create these exclusive cases solidifies the maison’s enduring commitment to the world of tennis. Building upon a legacy that began with Trophy Trunks for Roland Garros and the Davis Cup, Louis Vuitton continues its storied history of crafting bespoke travel cases for the globe’s most iconic trophies.

Expressing his delight with the creative partnership, Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley affirms, “Louis Vuitton is renowned for creating iconic trunks, and we are delighted with the stunning handcrafted custom trunks created for our historic Australian Open trophies.”

Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, similarly expressed the brand’s delight, stating, “After the Trophy Trunks created for the Rugby World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in 2023, we are proud to announce this new partnership with the first Grand Slam tournament of 2024, which once again shows that victory travels in Louis Vuitton.”
