What is it?

Great news for bone-idle dog owners. It’s a machine that plays fetch with your pooch.

It throws sticks? No, it fires miniature tennis balls. Simply turn it on (it runs on batteries or mains), select a range – it shoots up to 10m – and drop a ball into the funnel at the back. Wait, then… POING! The ball is fired out the front hole.

Is it fun? Dogs love the anticipation of waiting for it to shoot, as well as the fetching. And once you’ve trained them to drop the retrieved ball in the funnel themselves, you really can put your feet up.

Anything else? A smart dog like a poodle will quickly learn not to stand directly in the line of fire, but something daft like a Lhasa Apso might get shot in the face dozens of times before it cottons on. Still, that’s comedy gold.
