Valance a neighbour no more
Rock’s Ross Wilson, wife Tania Gogos-Wilson and her daughter, actor Olympia Valance, have sold their Melbourne home.
Australia rock legend Ross Wilson, wife Tania Gogos-Wilson and her daughter, actor and model Olympia Valance, have sold their co-owned Tudor-style Elsternwick home. It was the residence of Valance, who is best known for her role as Paige Smith in Neighbours. They paid $1.2 million for the 1930s period home in 2014. It sits next to Wilson’s own home, which they have owned since 1998. The three-bedroom home on 480sq m features decking running the length of the established garden. Glenn Bricker and Joshua Lubofsky at Gary Peer & Associates Caulfield North sold the home after it passed in at auction last month without a single bid. It had $1.65m-$1.815m hopes. Valance had no need for the home, with aspirations of a move to Hollywood. She will be in Australia sparingly no doubt, having last month joined the cast of Network Ten’s sports drama Playing For Keeps.
Bell rings up Sunshine Coast buy
Melbourne businessman Nick Bell has bought a holiday home on the Sunshine Coast. The young entrepreneur, who has a net worth of more than $100m, has spent $7.6m on a 2014-built home on Sunrise Beach, near Noosa. Bell founded WME, his first digital agency, with $400 in 2008 from his bedroom. He sold the business, billed as one of the largest digital marketing agencies in the country, for $39m last year. The Sunrise Beach home has four bedrooms, a Swedish sauna and a five-car garage, which Tom Offermann Real Estate selling agent Milan Markanovic says feels more like a showroom. The home had been on the market since mid 2016. It last traded for $2.6m in 2012. The property is part of the prestigious Beaches gated estate. The oceanfront terrace over two levels comes with a garden courtyard with resort-style pool and a water slide.
Rugby chief scores home sale
Recently retired Queensland Rugby Union chief Richard Barker and wife Tracey have sold their inner-city Brisbane home, just south of the Gabba. They secured $1.25m for the 1900s Queenslander that cost the couple $850,000 in 2012. It was renovated under the eye of Tracey, a keen decorator. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home features a rear deck that overlooks the swimming pool on the 615sq m parcel. Their five kids have now grown up and moved out. Glynis Austin Properties agent Glynis Austin sold the home. Barker was the general manager of Southern Cross Austereo before his stint at Queensland Rugby Union.
Eagles coach’s nest up for grabs
West Coast Eagles assistant coach Sam Mitchell and wife Lyndall are selling their Cottesloe home. It was the home they bought when they moved from Melbourne, where Mitchell had been the captain of AFL club Hawthorn. He spent a year as a player at the Eagles and made the move to the box at the start of this season. The home cost them $2.15m, which might look like a savvy purchase if the Perth price recovery is under way. Built in 2007, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home set on 490sq m is listed through local agent Justin Wallace.
