Michael and Cathy Wagner, the buyers of central Victoria trophy estate Musk Farm, have listed in East Melbourne. They recently purchased Musk Farm, which was restored by the late designer Stuart Rattle, seeking a tree change. Their 1860s East Melbourne home comes with classic facade, though inside has been reimagined over the past two years. Spread over two levels serviced by an elevator, the home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a second-level open roof terrace. It last traded for $3.7 million in 2014. Caine Real Estate East Melbourne agent Toby Campbell has set a November 28 private auction.

Autobarn director’s new digs

Businessman Garry Dumbrell, the co-founder of the Autobarn spare parts retailer, has bought the Hawthorn East mansion, Ellerslie. The entrepreneur’s quiet purchase is expected to be about $16m. The historic home was built in 1891 by John Beswicke, the architect who designed the nearby town hall. The renovated and restored home, with five bedrooms and stained glass windows, features a gothic-style central tower. There’s a ground-floor drawing room with open fireplace and marble mantelpiece and a vast parquetry-floored library. It is surrounded in formal manicured gardens that include a swimming pool and tennis court. Dumbrell’s plans are not known. He’s no stranger to top sales, having spent $20.25m on Avon Court, the Hawthorn trophy he bought from businessman Clinton Casey in 2009. Avon Court onsold off market to Chinese interests for $19.8m in 2014.

Sunland founder dives in

Billeroy, the Tallebudgera Creek estate, has been bought by Sunland founder Soheil Abedian. He’s paid $2.2m for the acreage in the Gold Coast hinterland. Set on 3.6ha, the lifestyle property offers 100m of creek frontage. There’s a single-level home with five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a home office, built around a central alfresco pavilion. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the views of the paddocks and gardens. Separate self-contained two-bedroom accommodation sits in the manicured grounds with a swimming pool. Harcourts Coastal Broadbeach agent Katrina Walsh secured the sale.

Hop in for ex-Kangaroo’s house

Recently retired North Melbourne Kangaroos star Andrew Swallow and wife Elise have listed their contemporary Albert Park renovation. It was reported this week that Swallow is eyeing a role in coaching, possibly linking up with his young brother David who plays for Gold Coast. Swallow paid $920,000 in 2013, a year after he was made skipper of the team at which he spent his entire professional career. A $550,000 renovation has turned the home in to a “Victorian that transcends time”, suggests the marketing. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home features modern oak floors in the living and dining areas. Greg Hocking Holdsworth Albert Park agents John Holdsworth and Shane Siemers have set a December 2 auction with $2.3m hopes. Swallow played 224 games.
