The former Dalkeith home of Radhika Oswal, wife of Indian fertiliser tycoon Pankaj Oswal, has sold for $3 million. The couple are best known for their proposed “Taj on the Swan”, a $70m mansion planned in nearby Peppermint Grove. The Perth mansion, which was set to feature an observatory with revolving roof and parking for 17 cars, had sat unfinished in the years since the Oswals fled Australia in 2010. In 2016, the half-built mansion was knocked down, and the couple are still seeking offers of about $20m for the land alone, which spans more than 6580sq m. The Dalkeith home was not as substantial. It still had seven ensuited bedrooms, a theatre room, games room, wine cellar, music room, gym, sauna, swimming pool and spa. Radhika paid $1.9m for the property in 2002.

Award-winning house up for grabs

A Broadbeach Waters home named Australia’s best small house has been listed for sale through Sophie Carter agent Sophie Carter. The award-winning home in Florida Gardens, Queensland, was completed two years ago to a design by architect James Russell. It won the New House under 200sq m category at the Houses Australian Awards in 2016. Builder and architect James Davidson and wife Lauren paid $537,000 in 2014 before its complete redesign. Paying homage to the breezeblocks and the style of the 1960s, Naranga Avenue House uses an extruded Miro brick from Austral’s La Paloma range. Vast walls of glass connect the home, made up of a series of patio-like pavilions. The designer home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms with a central treed atrium.

Callahan retreat on catwalk

Mornington Peninsula retreat Clahane has returned to the market, five years after being sold by former model Simone Callahan. It has been listed at $3.5m through Kay & Burton by fashionista Barbara Fayman. The former wife of cricketer Shane Warne secured her $1.5m asking price for the Arthurs Seat house, having bought it in 2008 at $1,225,000. The 4700sq m property comes with self-contained guest accommodation, tennis court and swimming pool. There is a 100,000-litre water tank that services the established gardens. There are sweeping views towards the CBD and over Mornington Peninsula from the renovated single-level Scenic Place house, which had its Fasham-Johnson makeover completed before its last sale.

Bronco’s latest offload

Having bought a land parcel to build their forever home nearby, Brisbane Bronco Matt Gillett and wife Skye have listed their former home in Albany Creek. The modern family home has five bedrooms and two bathrooms on its 915sq m block. The couple bought it for $670,000 in 2014, the same price it traded for in 2011. They are asking for $719,000 through Re/Max Northern Realty agent Karyn Neil. The Gilletts’ 6000sq m building parcel that cost them $800,000 sits in the next suburb north in Warner.
