Ex-Target boss Stuart Machin sells St Kilda West home

Former Target boss Stuart Machin has sold his turn of the century St Kilda West home for $4.2 million.

Former Target boss Stuart Machin has sold his turn of the century St Kilda West home for $4.2 million, having moved home to Britain. The Boom Style Victorian home cost Machin $3.3m when he was the chief of operations at Coles supermarkets. Set on 310sq m near St Kilda Harbour and Catani Gardens, the Mary Street home came with a contemporary Matt Gibson-designed extension. The three-bedroom home features a bluestone terrace with a rear guesthouse. Marshall White Port Phillip agents Sam Hobbs and Michael Paproth sold the home. Now with Steinhoff, Machin spent three years as the Target managing director before departing last year.

Live in a world of your own

Melbourne-based Bruce Woodley, a founding member of Australian band The Seekers, has sold the family’s Sunshine Coast hinterland retreat. He co-owned the Eudlo home with former wife Sally and son Dan, the latter living in the home. It fetched $949,000 after costing the trio $755,000 in 2013. It was bought when the family returned from running a boutique hotel in Bali. The property features four bungalows, three of which are bedrooms and the fourth a living and kitchen area. Harcourts Buderim agent Justin Boyanton sold the home, initially listed with other agents at $1.6 million in 2016. Woodley was the main songwriter for The Seekers and was also the co-writer of the well known classic, I Am Australian.

Land of the rising scrum

Wallabies backrower Sean McMahon is offloading his two-bedroom investment apartment in Norman Park, Brisbane. The 23-year-old, who has played 17 tests for the Wallabies since his debut in 2014, paid $629,000 for the apartment off the plan last year. Finished earlier this year, the 108sq m apartment in the boutique Mosaic development is being marketed by Ray White New Farm agent Meaghan Bakker. Two-bedroom units are currently selling in the building from between $630,000 and $662,000. McMahon said he was selling because he was moving to Japan early next year after being linked to a club in their Top League. He plays for the Melbourne Rebels in the Super Rugby competition.

Penthouse river views

The boss of Harvey Norman Ireland Blaine Callard has listed his Brisbane sub penthouse apartment. Callard has listed in the sought-after Admiralty Towers block, where he bought in 2009.Housian Property Agents is asking for offers of more than $2m. Spanning 216sq m, the sub penthouse apartment has four bedrooms, a fitted home office and views over the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Callard has been at Harvey Norman since 1995 and held a number of positions before becoming managing director of Harvey Norman Europe in 2006. He took over the CEO role in Ireland in 2010.
