Artistic touch in country homes
Artist David Bromley and his fashion designer wife Yuge are selling two central Victorian country houses. They have listed houses in Hepburn Springs and Daylesford. The three-bedroom Hepburn Springs home, which cost $400,000 in 2016, has been listed for $650,000.
The Daylesford home, which also has three bedrooms, is listed at $850,000, having cost the couple $550,000. The houses are only 4km from each other. Both properties are for sale through Kim McQueen at McQueen Real Estate. Buyers will have the chance to secure some of the artworks and furnishings with the sale. The Bromleys are set to focus on the Old Castlemaine Gaol, the tourism attraction they bought earlier this year. Late last year the Prahran-based couple sold their former 1800s Daylesford home, complete with their creative touch, for $1.7m.
Gibsons eye a change from the sea
The last Hedges Avenue listing of the year has hit the market. It is the home of retired leading Brisbane ophthalmologist Brian Gibson and wife Janette. It has been in the Gibson family since the late 1950s, when Brian’s mother bought the then beachfront cottage on a 405sq m corner block. It has been the couple’s primary residence for the past 15 years, having previously been their weekender. The Agency’s John Natoli has a $5.3m guide.
Geminders expand in Kooyong
Packaging rich-lister Raphael “Ruffy” Geminder and wife Fiona continue to expand their Kooyong landholding surrounding their heritage mansion Thanes. They have spent $2.3m for a four-bedroom red-brick home on 580sq m, the sixth acquisition that borders the mansion the Geminder family have owned for nearly two decades. Thanes is now described as the Taj Mahal of Kooyong by locals. Thanes, formerly known as Wyalla, with rough-cast walls and a slate roof, was designed by Walter Butler of Butler and Branshaw, and built in 1908 for Franz Wallach, a mine engineer. Marshall White Stonnington agents Andrew Hayne and Fiona Ansell-Jones sold the property. Raphael founded Pact Group in 2002. Fiona is the sister of businessman Anthony Pratt, who has an estimated fortune of $12.9 billion.
