If you currently can’t hop time zones, you can at least prepare for the time you can again travel in style.
A luxury watch isn’t just an accessory to a sophisticated wardrobe — it’s a high-performance tool to be revered and respected.
Omega’s latest release is a modern marvel, well equipped not just to keep perfect time but to look good doing it. The Swiss luxury watchmakers have been honing the craft since 1848 and are renowned for innovative design and supreme performance. And the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer is no exception.
The model was first released a few years ago in a platinum, limited-edition run of 87 pieces globally. Now, with a sporty take on classic style, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer comes in a 43mm brushed and polished case, crafted from the more accessible stainless steel and a more wallet-friendly price. It also boasts a practical and long-wearing blue rubber strap, given a tactile makeover with slick quilting texture and contrast stitch.
With refined sensibilities and a striking face featuring a picture of Earth as though looking down over the North Pole, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer is an homage to the planet.
Rather than an image painted on the face, this vision of Earth has been created by the more modern laser ablating of a grade 5 titanium plate — the blue of the ocean is the colour created by that chemical reaction. That map is surrounded by a 24-hour scale, divided in shades of blue to indicate day or night times. And beyond that lies a perfect nod to the wonders of international travel.
Markers around the face name New York, Moscow, Tokyo and, for the Omega fans, the brand’s birthplace of Bienne, Switzerland. A constant reminder upon every glance at the time, of the places still to tour.
The precision is, of course, also stellar.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer is powered by the 8398 Calibre Master Chronometer, certified for accuracy by the independent Swiss body, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (or METAS). It is water resistant to 150m, and amagnetic, which means it has the ability to resist magnetic fields — the kind that come from electronic devices, as well as aeroplanes, both of which are common if you’re on the go.
It’s also equipped with Omega’s “Travel Time” feature, which makes it perfect for keeping an eye on multiple time zones. The feature allows the wearer to jump between local time zones easily, without messing with the 24-hour clock that dictates the time at home.
A perfect collision of form and function like this is tricky to come by. The craftsmanship, and attention to detail that Omega is famous for ensures precision and longevity. It’s a stylish watch, but it’s not the one you wear with a suit.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer is the wrist companion that sees you through adventures.
