Along with the late Nineties cult classic The Big Lebowski, Bridges more recently appeared in Bad Times at the El Royale alongside Jon Hamm and Dakota Johnson. He is also known for cult films The Fisher King and the Coen Brother’s True Grit.
The Oscar-winning actor is said to be filming a TV miniseries, The Old Man, about a former intelligence agent living off the grid.
Bridges has been married to fellow actor and producer Susan Geston for over 40 years, and the couple has three daughters.
“I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes,” he then tweeted, before urging his followers to vote in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
