The Coral Coast, Western Australia

Stretching between Perth and Broome, the Coral Coast is one of Australia’s most beautiful and wild places. From the breathtaking and world famous Ningaloo Reef to the beauty of Monkey Mia and The Pinnacles, a trip along this vast stretch of land (or even just a portion) is a must-do.

Good for: a touch of wilderness and luxury best done with time to spare

The Great Ocean Road, Victoria

A classic for a reason, the Great Ocean Road is a must-see for every Australian. Winding over 200 kilometres across Victoria’s southern coast, road trippers can expect to stumble upon hidden beaches, rocky outcrops and of course, the famous 12 Apostles.

Good for: short family trips and sunny summer holidays

Almost anywhere in Tasmania

As one of Australia‘s most beautiful places to explore, there’s lots to see in Tasmania. From Hobart to the Bay of Fires and into Freycinet National Park, or maybe just direct to Cradle Mountain, there’s a lot to see.

NSW south coast, New South Wales

The roads stretching south from Sydney make up some of New South Wales’ prettiest driving spots. Whether you’re after white sand and turquoise water at Jervis Bay or oyster tasting and secluded coastlines further south at Merimbula, the twisting roads through pretty Kiama and quaint Milton are worth their weight in travel gold.

Good for: an easy escape from the city

75-Mile Beach road, Queensland

A shorter road trip to take when already on Fraser Island, the 75-mile-long stretch of beach on the island’s east coast makes for an interesting day trip. Secluded and remote, it’s a memory to cherish and one that’ll stay with the family forever.

Gibb River Road, Western Australia

One of Western Australia’s most legendary trips, the journey on Gibb River Road is a bucket list type of holiday. Stretching over 600 kilometres through the Kimberly from Derby to Kununurra, this 12 day trip will take you through grand gorges and incredible natural sights. However, plan ahead and secure a well-fitted 4WD, as this isn’t your standard road trip.

Sydney to Byron Bay

Snaking through the Central Coast and up into the Myall Lakes, a trip to Byron Bay (or the Gold Coast) from Sydney is a pleasant and relaxing drive in the summertime. Stop off at one of the many quiet beaches and pick up fish and chips for the road before arriving in the laid-back wonderland that is Byron. Change it up and head to the Byron hinterland for a lush, tropical experience that’ll satiate all your Far North Queensland dreams without actually leaving the state of NSW.

Good for: a true family holiday
