US election: Hanson’s cup runs over with bubbles of ‘people power’ joy

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has toasted Donald Trump’s victory with champagne, saying that along with Brexit and her party’s success, it demonstrates “people power” is happening and mainstream media and political party influence is waning.

Senator Hanson was joined by her colleague Malcolm Roberts, as well as US climate change sceptic Tony Heller, and Trump-turned-One Nation staffer Darren Brady Nelson to celebrate Mr Trump’s election win for a video posted on her Facebook page yesterday.

“We are standing in front of Parliament House, Canberra, Australia, and why we are here? I’m so excited that Donald Trump looks like he’s just got over the line,” she said.

“I’m so happy about it, because this is putting out a clear message to everyone around the world that the people power is now happening and it’s happened in Australia with our election, Senator Roberts, myself and another two One Nation senators, we’ve had Brexit and that’s happened, and now America, good on you guys, you got it right. I’m so happy that Donald Trump’s there. As I’ve always said, the more the media, the more the major political parties and everyone is against you, the more reason that (you) are there for the people.”

Mr Heller pens the climate change sceptic blog Real Science under the pseudonym Steven Goddard. Senator Hanson’s video was viewed almost 100,000 times and been “liked” or “loved” more than 6000 times in the first hour it was posted last night.
