Barack Obama may be departing the White House with dignity as his days as US president come to an end, but the First Family’s beloved pet Sunny certainly isn’t.

According to TMZ, the four-year-old Portuguese Water Dog bit a family friend on the face as she learnt down to pet and kiss the pooch.

The gash was bad enough that the unidentified 18-year-old woman needed stitches and will be left with a small scar.

The White House has not commented on the incident.
