Donald Trump: Michael Moore targets Democrats old guard at rally
Activist Michael Moore attacked the Democratic Party during an anti-Trump rally, saying its old guard was the problem.
Prominent left-wing activist Michael Moore attacked the Democratic Party during an anti-Trump rally in Washington today, saying it needed new blood to challenge the new Trump Administration.
Mr Moore, a fierce Trump critic who correctly predicted his election victory, spoke to several thousand anti-Trump supporters only hours after violent street riots between police and activists.
Throughout Inauguration Day there were large numbers of people protesting against Mr Trump.
Most of these protests were peaceful. However, earlier almost 100 protesters were arrested after groups of black-clad anarchists smashed the windows of businesses and cars and threw projectiles at police.

Police responded by throwing their own stun grenades and firing pepper spray at the protesters.
D.C. Interim Police Chief Peter Newsham said officers arrested more than 90 people in connection with protests that turned violent and caused “significant damage to a number of blocks in our city.”
But despite the violence, which was vividly captured by some television networks such as Fox News, the disruption was limited to only several blocks and did not affect the inauguration celebrations.
By nightfall in Washington, large numbers of protesters were still grouped together but speeches had ended and several had started to leave.
Addressing a crowd of several thousand Mr Moore, an anti-establishment activist known for his left-wing documentaries, took aim at the Democratic Party, which he said was out of touch with Democrat voters.
“Donald J Trump outsmarted the Democratic party. I can’t do anything about Trump and his tactics but we can do something about the (Democrats) that say they support us.”
“The old guard of the Democratic party has to go. They are supported by corporate America. We need new leadership, new blood and young people.”
He claimed that Bernie Sanders would have beaten Trump and urged the crowd not to accept another Democrat candidate like Hillary Clinton who was a part of the system.
“Are you going to let this happen again when they run another Democrat that’s just part of the same old same old, they will not put themselves on the line.”
“I’m telling you my friend Donald Trump will not last these four years,” he told the crowd.
