University of Canberra hires Belinda Robinson in top role
Belinda Robinson is taking up a new senior higher education role, joining the University of Canberra from July 9.
Former Universities Australia chief executive Belinda Robinson is back in a senior higher education role, taking up the job of vice-president, university relations and strategy, at the University of Canberra from July 9.
UC vice-chancellor Deep Saini said Ms Robinson would be broadly responsible for stakeholder relations and would lead the university’s repositioning in the market.
“We are now positioning the university for a major leap forward,” Professor Saini said.
He said the university’s new, five-year, strategic plan would reassert its position as a leading institution for training professionals. There is also a major campus redevelopment plan. The university would be focused on experiential learning authenticated by industry, he said.
The university is also about to launch a major talent acquisition plan and will hire a significant number of new academics, he said.
Professor Saini said Ms Robinson was “one of the most experienced and respected experts in the higher education sector in Australia” and her appointment was a significant coup for his institution. “We can’t wait to see the impact she has at the University of Canberra,” he said.
Ms Robinson said the opportunity to help shape the future of a young university made the role attractive to her. She was UA chief executive from 2011 until this year.
