Sarah Henderson is new Coalition education shadow minister
Victorian Liberal senator Sarah Henderson is the federal Coalition’s new education shadow minister.
Sarah Henderson is the federal Coalition’s new spokeswoman for education, taking the role from Alan Tudge who announced his resignation from parliament last week.
Senator Henderson takes up the role as universities prepare for the Albanese government’s new higher education accord, a major review which has a wide remit to recommend changes to nearly all aspects of the higher education system.
Higher education representative groups welcomed Senator Henderson to the role.
Universities Australia chief executive Catriona Jackson said it would be a big year for higher education and the group looked forward to working with the shadow minister.
Others including ATN Universities executive director Luke Sheehy and Independent Higher Education Australia chief executive Peter Hendy also congratulated her and thanked Mr Tudge for his work in the role.
Senator Henderson moves to the education job from her previous role as communications shadow minister.
