As foreign students return to Australia the international education industry has launched a campaign to showcase the benefits it brings.
Called Help Australia Thrive, the three-month $500,000 social media campaign focuses on three international students who have worked in areas where labour is in short supply – agriculture, aged care and mental health.
The campaign, run by the International Education Association of Australia, will also highlight the 240,000 jobs which international education creates in Australia in education and service industries.
The association says that international education also drives tourism as a result of visits by families and friends of students, and generates more export revenue than wheat, beef, wool and barley combined.
“International education isn’t a commodity. It supports communities and nurtures knowledge,” said IEAA chief executive Phil Honeywood.
