It’s a small, small world
Bond University is celebrating its rise in the Times Higher Education rankings for small universities. In this year’s list it has climbed to 17th, three better than last year’s 20th position.
The small uni ranking is yet another way in which Times Higher Ed slices and dices its World University Rankings — all the better to give more universities something to boast about and to build the brand of its ranking. It is limited to universities which teach more than four subjects and have less than 5,000 students.
“This particular ranking is noteworthy because it compares like with like. Bond retains a commitment to be distinctive and our small size is an advantage to our students as evidenced by our consistent superior rating of student satisfaction and quality student experience,” says Bond vice-chancellor Tim Brailsford.
Bond Uni points out that its small size leads to personalised teaching and also notes that it’s the only university in the southern hemisphere on the 20 strong small universities list.
In the regular Times Higher Ed World University Rankings Bond comes in between 501 and 600. But on the small uni list it sits proudly in the company of Caltech (with only 2,000 students) which comes in first.
