Is your heart feeling your age?
Want to know your ‘heart age’? Use our ‘heart age’ calculator to find out.
Could you be at risk of heart disease? The Heart Foundation’s Heart Age Calculator works to give you an estimated “heart age” based on your answers to a simple set of questions. You can then compare your “heart age” with your biological age.
The calculator is aimed at people aged 35 to 75 who don’t have heart disease or have not previously had a heart attack or stroke.
If the calculator assesses your heart age as greater than your biological age, it might be a sign that your risk of a heart attack or stroke is higher.
While there are some heart disease risk factors you can’t change, such as your age, sex, ethnicity and family history, there are steps you can take, such as being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, managing high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
If you are unsure, visit your GP for further discussion or a heart health check.
More details about the Heart Age Calculator and how it works are available on the Heart Foundation website.
