Will pets get their own boarding passes?

It’s good that Virgin Australia is allowing pets to fly on its aircraft (“Virgin gears up to fly pets in its cabins but Qantas says no”, 8/3). Presumably they will be given boarding passes and seat allocations. With the cost of airfares for humans at a high, perhaps animals may attract a lower rate. This may leave my wife with the option of classifying me as a pet to attract a more favourable fare.

Cats and dogs to fly among passengers on Australian domestic flights? Whatever next, pigs?

Regarding pets in planes, will it be possible to swap pets with passengers when selecting seats? Some passengers I’ve had to sit next to would be ideal next to a pet.

Sheila Duke, Bulimba, Qld

The problem is, if we took one of our dogs on a plane (both would be inadvisable), they’d want a gin and tonic to go with the little packet of nuts.

Time is fast running out for Jill Biden to whisper in her husband’s ear: “Joe, it’s time we called it a day.”

Concerning the US elections, to adapt a phrase from Oscar Wilde, it’s the unspeakable in pursuit of the unfathomable.

The Democrats probably won’t beat Donald Trump with Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election. So bring on Antony Blinken!

Russ Fathers, Tweed Heads, NSW

Now that Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee, how long before he declares the only way he can lose the election is if it’s rigged?

Surely, Sam Kerr should not have been charged. How can it be possible to be racist towards anyone possessing white privilege?

Tony O’Brien, South Melbourne, Vic

The investigating policeman’s skin colour is irrelevant and whether he was stupid I don’t know, but my guess is that may be an apt description of the vomiter.

David Cook, Drummoyne, NSW

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been called a Pommy something or other, which is presumably racist. However, I can count the number of times I’ve been offended by it – zero.
