Will Navalny’s death provoke Putin’s overthrow?

One can but hope and pray that Alexei Navalny’s death promotes a groundswell of dissident patriotism in Russia that leads to the downfall of the odious and reprehensible Vladimir Putin. This would be a fitting epitaph for a most courageous man.

John Sheldrick, Peppermint Grove, WA

Navalny’s wife has accused Putin of killing her husband. This is, of course, not true. Putin would not have had the courage to do the deed personally. He has probably done what all cowardly dictators have done in the past: get some willing enabler to do it.

Ross Hudson, Mount Martha, Vic

Terry Walmsley, Benowa, Qld

Hey, Albo, write this on my arm: “I promise to cut your power bills by $275”. There’s room on my other arm for negative gearing and capital gains, next to my tattoo of Pinocchio.

It’s a good time to step back and question whether the Olympics should even continue in their current form and format. After all, the true spirit of the Games is long dead and it’s sending lots of countries broke.

Brian D. Lee, Cairns, Qld

Labor government is back and so are the boats. Deju vu. Thirty-nine down, 49,961 to go.
