Trots behind pro-Palestine protests, PM?

In times gone past, good Labor politicians were described as having been “hands on the tools” tradesmen, now they are only professional politicians.

“Trots”, PM? Some would say it takes one to know one.

Thank you, Christopher Allen, for exposing the cultural establishment for being out of touch with what is happening in the contemporary world (“Behind the times, lost in escapism”, 4-5/5). Unfortunately, this ignorance permeates many of the museums, art galleries, libraries and orchestras throughout Australia.

Re-reading Paul Kelly’s piece from the weekend, and reflecting on what occurred outside the Sydney Opera House on October 9, I’m convinced that Kelly has nailed the crucial issue facing our society’s wellbeing and cohesiveness: “Labor seems convinced that the social cohesion from multiculturalism is ingrained in our character – rather than the unique product of remarkable forces.”

Robert Richardson, Yass, NSW

Chris Uhlmann’s focused logic introduced a new descriptor, “Greenwished”, to show the fiction of Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s renewables narrative. Thank you for the clear thinking and nice writing.

Here in sunny Brisbane we have had a run of cloudy, windless days, with forecasts of another week of cloudy, showery conditions. Consequently, all those solar panels and wind turbines will be relatively idle. Fortunately, however, here in Queensland our coal-fired power stations are still maintaining supply. We are facing a bleak future when these power stations are closed, with no provision for back-up dispatchable supply in the pipeline. A fossil-fuelled portable generator is an attractive option.

The Weekend Australian’s cartoon was brilliant. You better watch out, Johannes Leak – Albo will be trying to ban you soon.

Alan Fletcher, Scarborough, WA

Do all these self-righteous young protesters realise that they are being used, led by the nose, doing exactly what Hamas intended for them to do?

Elizbeth Moser, Highton, Vic

The left hates everything about the US except its history of student activism on university campuses.
