Pro-Palestinian protests demonstrably anti-Semitic

The pro-Palestinian protesters who demonstrated outside the Carmel School in Perth have unconsciously exposed the lie that they are anti-Israel, and not anti-Semitic. The Carmel School is not an Israeli school, it is an Australian primary school in Perth for Australian children who are Jewish. I note that there have been no protests outside those Australian primary schools in Perth for Australian children who are Muslims.

Congratulations to Judith Sloan for telling it like it is about migration and the numbers of international students (“Immigration policy can’t be dictated by uni chiefs”, 10/9). As we know she does on any matter you care to name. I remember when the Productivity Commission was a force of influence and rationality in Australia.

Is it a coincidence that this seemed to change when Judith left?

Graeme Loughton, Indooroopilly, Qld

Considering the determination, capability and courage displayed by Jews in developing the nation of Israel from desert after 1948, one can only imagine what transformation might have taken place in the northwest of Australia had Isaac Steinberg’s plan of the 1930s been accepted. (“We almost housed a Jewish state in west”, 10/9)
