Lebanese ambassador escapes lambasting

Why has our Foreign Minister not called in the Lebanese ambassador to warn Lebanon not to escalate the conflict between the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants in Lebanon as the terrorist group continues to rain down rockets on Israel? Why have we not warned Lebanon to effect control over Hezbollah? Why are we warning our ally in the Middle East not to defend itself against terrorism?

We need a parliamentary inquiry into how anti-Israel protesters were able to unfurl three massive banners from the roof of Parliament House.

If the government is unable to defend Parliament House, how can we have confidence that it is able to defend Australia?

Senator Payman is on to a winner. A Muslim woman abandoning her party, portraying herself as the victim of political intrigue and crusading on an issue of peripheral importance to most of us is bound to become the darling of the left.

Martin Newington, Aspendale, Vic

Senator Payman joins a conga line of politicians who have ratted on their party and their constituents (most of whom voted for the party and not the individual), but choose to continue in their taxpayer-funded sinecure rather than doing the honourable thing and resigning from parliament.

Trevor Sauer, Mapelton, Qld

If Payman’s dual citizenship is only now an issue when not toeing the Labor Party line, why was it not an issue previously?

John Davis, Warwick, Qld

Senator Payman is deluded with self-idealising importance if she thinks anyone outside the ALP will “watch this space” for her future actions. I say make space for someone who has a passion for Australia.

President Biden has apparently attempted to reassure his supporters by promising to work shorter hours in order to handle the demands of the campaign trail. As an election slogan – elect me your president and I promise to work less – this is a sure-fire winner.

Peter O’Brien, Kiama, NSW

I feel that it’s time Kamala got together with our ambassador to Washington for some “detailed programmatic specificity”.

Another brilliant cartoon from Leak. Albo must be running out of lettuce leaves.
