So now that the Open is over there is apparently a great urgency to address the situation in the Alice, according to our PM, who should be forever known as “Tennis Albo”.

With Penny Wong encouraging Britons to “own” their colonial past, it seems we now have a guilt surplus at home and are in a position to start exporting it. Is Senator Wong planning similar visits to France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Norway, to name a few others, who’d probably also welcome a reminder?

Louise Clegg’s suggestion to have a Constitutional Convention before going to a referendum on the Indigenous voice is eminently sensible. It provides a forum for informed debate by a range of experts that is likely to result in objective and workable propositions for the government and ultimately voters to consider.
