Last Post: ScoMo, Covid legacy, super and Trump

It’s hard not to miss the irony of a crusty old republican receiving a gong on the King’s birthday weekend (“He’s no saint but Phillip gets the nod of approval”, 9/6). Meanwhile, congratulations to all recipients, particularly those who have been honoured for work beyond doing the day job well.

Gemma Tognini points out that, as a group, Australia’s young adults are unacquainted with “existential threat” (“Conservatives must ask: what’s it like to be a young adult today?”, 7-8/6). Our youngsters could soon make that acquaintance given the parlous state of our country’s defences.

Donald Trump assures us that his doctor says he fit for office. One has to wonder whether his doctor is.

Greta Thunberg needs to get a job.
