Last Post: PM’s digs, wages and Vic rail
While it was foolish of Peter Dutton to give the PM the opportunity to claim his opponent was “measuring up the curtains” at Kirribilli House, his decision to base himself, should he win the election, on the shore of Sydney Harbour rather than in a nondescript house in a thoroughly woke, parochial town like Canberra is entirely understandable.

I agree Dutton should make The Lodge his main place of residence if he wins the election, but I don’t get the work from home argument used by his detractors. How is living at Kirribilli House and doing some of his work there more at home than living in The Lodge?

It seems there is some chance both our prime ministerial candidates will end up with outstanding water views.

This has to be the most uninspiring campaign in history. It’s as if the major parties are afraid of the voters. Who knows what the rest stand for?

The last PM to make inflation catch up with wages was Gough Whitlam and remember the mess that followed took almost 30 years to correct.

So much of our economy depends on the cost and reliability of energy. Surely it’s the most important factor in the election?

For Adam Bandt not to condemn the killing of anti-Hamas Palestinian protesters is despicable. Such a lack of human decency does not deserve representation in the national parliament.

After Donald Trump concludes his long presidential tenure, at the end of 2031, my diary shows I’m reasonably free in 2032.

When Sam Kerr and Steve Smith finish their careers, they should join the diplomatic corps. We’d be overjoyed that they continue to shine a light on Australia.

Jacinta Allan needs to explain why we need an outer suburban rail link between Cheltenham and Ringwood. There are valid reasons why a rail line is vital towards the city, but linking up outer suburbs appears a complete waste of money.
