We saw it in the most recent national elections in Australia, then in Britain and now we see it in America. A big-taxing, Big Brother, big-spending far-left push with the Green New Deal being a Trojan horse for the failed ideology of socialism. And we saw the rejection of that push in the land Down Under, then in the land of hope and glory, and we’ll soon see it in the land of the free. Just like the Aussies and the Brits, the majority of American voters will confirm they want to be a free, democratic, sovereign nation responsible for their own destiny. You could say it’s the ideology, stupid.

Donald Trump’s words and utterances may be erratic and inconsistent at times, but his actions have been solid and in the best interests of America and the broader world. By contrast, the words and utterances of Joe Biden (and Barack Obama before him) may be slicker and smoother, but under current Democrat policies the world would be a much less stable place.

Finally something we can all agree on. Those attacking “hateful” tweets directed towards Donald Trump due to his COVID diagnosis are absolutely correct; such attacks are disgraceful. But one has to wonder where these people have been for the past four years? Was Trump’s denigration of John McCain’s war record and the suggestion that deceased Democrat John Dingell resides in hell not worthy of their outrage?

Eleven. That’s how I rate, on a scale of one to 10, the weirdness of Donald Trump leaving hospital while being treated for COVID-19, to go back and forth in the street in his motorcade, and then return to the hospital.

I note Donald Trump’s hairstyle is starting to resemble that of Boris Johnson. Is this a side effect of COVID-19?

That 62 per cent of Victorians think Dan Andrews is doing a good job is disturbing evidence that the mental health effects of the never-ending lockdown are more serious and widespread than experts had predicted.

Widow Edith Lyons became the first female MP in federal parliament in the 1940s — and she had 12 children. Girls can do anything, Peter Buckingham (Letters, 5/10).

Cardinal George Pell’s accusers bribed? I say Pell for Pope. The meltdown at their ABC would be icing (sugar) on the panforte.
