With Mark Latham on board, One Nation could become a force.

With Mark Latham’s wit and Pauline Hanson’s uncanny ability to say what the silent majority are thinking, One Nation has the potential to become the third force in politics.

Once our culture has been destroyed by left-green ideology (“The three great lies corroding our Western cultures”, 7/11), the useful idiots will wake up to no more safe places, their views no longer tolerated. Repressive intolerance will be the new cultural norm.

Having pilloried private sector executives about salaries, it is pointless to suggest Bill Shorten and Sally McManus would comment on the ludicrous ABC bonuses, despite the organisation posting a $70m loss.

Most roads are paved with good intentions. Bill Shorten’s road is paved with self-interest. While Scott Morrison spent Melbourne Cup Day at a country race meeting, Shorten hobnobbed with the rich and famous in the Bird Cage where he looked quite at home. Not bad for a bloke who is forever stoking the class-envy fires.

In the land of droughts and flooding rains only a fool would rely on vegetation for permanent carbon storage (“Sowing seeds for future”, 7/11). If we can produce high protein animal feed from saltbush, great, but energy future is one of low operating costs and proportionally higher capital costs.

The move by the cricket players’ union to have the bans on the ball-tampering trio rescinded is inappropriate. These highly paid players and role models made a considered decision to cheat to improve their position. They brought themselves, the game and their country into disrepute. Let them serve their time.

My father was a veteran and was always the first to board the aircraft and the last to disembark, but this was 1944, the airline was 466 Squadron, RAAF, the aircraft a Halifax bomber and he was the pilot. On his final trip, as usual he was the last out, but this time by parachute.
