It looks as if the Greens are grubby, too.

Who would have thought that those moralising, sanctimonious, holier-than-thou Greens would turn out to be just as grubby as the rest of the plebs (“Greens in crisis on women, violence”, 15/11)?

M. Davis, Corinda, Qld

Greens politicians refusing to comment on their party’s denigration of women? Now there’s a first. But I would not expect anything different from hypocrites.

A state funeral will be held for Sisto Malaspina. This Christian man is being recognised for his compassion and friendship to all who came to his coffee bar. The Bible says “by his deeds you shall know him”. His life gave true meaning to this quote. You don’t have to be a celebrity to contribute to a harmonious society. Rest in peace, Sisto.

After the latest Islamist terrorist act in Melbourne, I estimate we are about five years into a 100-year war.

We should not be surprised by the disrespectful behaviour of those Muslims who refuse to stand before a judge when a senior religious leader refers to Scott Morrison as “this bloody Prime Minister”.

Jerome Paul, Balmain, NSW

Turnbull was too posh for us, Morrison isn’t posh enough. We’ve become hard to please. Neither Hawke nor Howard were particularly posh, but they weren’t half bad leaders.

Rosemary O’Brien, Georges Hall, NSW

The PM appears to be back-pedalling on his decision to move the Australian embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Of what business is it of Indonesia on what is essentially, something that concerns Australia and Israel only? Perhaps it’s time to stop channelling buckets of aid to our northern neighbour.

Owen Reid, Dunlop, ACT

It’s pretty close to checkmate (“Royals check republic”, 15/11).

In 10 years, the National Disability Insurance Scheme will be costing taxpayers an eye-watering $32 billion a year. And that’s before the professional rorters and litigants get involved. Which political party will own up to increasing the Medicare levy to cover the cost?

David Crommelin, Strathfield, NSW

Stephen Miller (Letters, 15/11) might be interested to know that to generate the same amount of electricity as a nuclear power station, wind farms would require about 10 times as much concrete in their construction as the nuclear plant. The cement industry is a large generator of carbon dioxide.
