Here we have the One Nation show — Steve Dickson and James Ashby, each blaming something else for their own behaviour. If that is the level of intelligence from people attempting to run our politics, they should be kicked out.
Steve Dickson and James Ashby of One Nation blame Al Jazeera, then blame being on the sauce, for their predicament. Could it simply be that they’re not that bright?
Labor has a cheek lecturing the Liberals on One Nation preferences. Labor is happy to cosy-up to the Greens and the foreign-financed GetUp, both of which are more dangerous than One Nation.
Our universities have been taken over by left-wing academics such as Dean Aszkielowicz, and it was by design (“Gallipoli Anzacs ‘killers’: lecturer”, 27/3). This has been the left-wing agenda for the past 50 years and now leftists have control of who gets hired. We need a balance of conservatives in the system so that students can hear all sides of the story, not just leftist propaganda.
In reporting the suggestion of a left-wing bias in teaching at Murdoch University, you quote Andrew Hastie saying humanities students would be better building a home library “based on the Western canon”. One thing I recall from my education in the humanities is Wilfred Owen’s poem ending, “The old lie, Dulce et decorum est, Pro patria mori” (“It is sweet and fitting to die for one’s country”). Is that sufficiently within the canon?
Bill Shorten’s promises of a “living wage” reminds those of us who can go back to the Whitlam years of the joy with which we greeted the large wage increases we were given. Unfortunately the joy did not last as the economy and his government degenerated into the shambles that led to Whitlam’s dismissal.
The Climate Council advertisement (27/3) about greenhouse gas pollution and signed by a range of eminent people, features a picture of a coal-fired power station. It is hard to see any emissions from the chimneys but there is plenty of steam from the cooling towers. In fact steam is the message in the picture. When did H20 become a pollutant? Does the Climate Council know the difference between H2O and CO2?
I quite like the beige trench coat shown on the Life page for $10,500 (“50 shades of beige”, 27/3). Is this available at Kmart so that I can use my Flybuys?
