NSW Premier should thank the Labor leader for his mistakes.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian should go down on one knee and give thanks for Labor leader Michael Daley’s last minute glitches.

David Crommelin, Strathfield, NSW

The NSW election result was bad news for the ABC. Its reporters face another four years in opposition.

Geoffrey Luck, Killara, NSW

Gladys Berejiklian and her team have done a great job for NSW having maintained a strong economy, created a budget surplus and spent billions on infrastructure. The Premier and her team have worked hard, achieved much and thoroughly deserved to be re-elected.

Thomas Carrie, Summer Hill, NSW

It hurts to say this, but the election result in NSW proves that NSW people are much smarter than Queenslanders and Victorians.

Col Douglas, Narangba, Qld

Bill Shorten should be careful about what he promises. He says he will not be a handmaiden to the unions, but how will he deal with union leaders who defy the law and intimidate non-members and bosses?

Peter Haggarty, Cranebrook, NSW

When I read the headline (“Shorten: I won’t be a union handmaiden”, 23/3), I collapsed laughing and while I was getting back to my feet there was a flock of pigs flying overhead.

Tony Miles, Chermside, Qld

What a pity that Jordan Peterson has been rejected for a visiting fellowship at Cambridge (Cut & Paste, 23/3). A psychologist of Peterson’s stature would have provided interesting leavening for Cambridge’s traditional mix of mathematicians and spies.

Terry Birchley, Bundaberg, Qld

The $10 million spend on a “Team Australia” advisory council will be swallowed up by consultants who will produce a report that will achieve nothing. The contract to produce “a brand concept and creative execution so good it makes the world sit up and listen” could be from any of the TV comedies that send up this type of gobbledygook.

Paul Connelly, Gawler South, SA

The mainstream Left also recognises human frailty, Henry Ergas (“Jihadis, neo-Nazis — they have always been brothers”, 22/3), with the difference being that they recognise it in everyone except themselves.

Russell Graham, Highton, Vic

Following the example of goodwill across the Tasman, I notice that Muslims in Australia haven’t come out condemning Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his hate speech. No amount of crocodile tears will mask the fact that one side is trying to bridge the gap while the other is only pretending.
