Last Post: Journey back to Stone Age with net-zero madness

I hope all those in government who are involved in our energy crisis in Australia read the article by Robert Gottliebsen (“The US energy revolution”, 19/3). It provides a clear understanding of what needs to be done. It would be great also if the powers that be could make sure that in the future Australia has more than 30 days’ supply of fuel.

V. Donovan, Corinda, Qld

What on earth are we doing to ourselves with the net-zero madness, obviously unachievable but in the process sending us into darkness and, if the loonies have their way, back to the Stone Age? It is terrifying to consider a Labor minority government involving the Greens and teals.

Michael Seymour, Castle Hill, NSW

When climate activists are ready to live without their mobile phones, computers, household appliances and slogan-emblazoned T-shirts, and stop travelling by bus, car, kayak, bicycle, train or air, then they may have some credibility, considering all of these items derive from extracted minerals, industrial processes or product transport modes that the activists constantly hold in contempt.

Lyn Katschke, Tintenbar, NSW

I keep telling impatient creditors that my late payments are due to factors beyond my control. I have cited the Ukraine war, the Gaza conflict, Donald Trump, Cyclone Alfred, cost of living, bushfire and many others but they refuse to accept these reasons. I need a mentor named Jim to validate my claims.

Michael Saul, Scarborough, Qld

Jim Chalmers is going to blame all our ills on Cyclone Alfred and tariff Trump while the responsibility might rest with Airbus Albo and battery Bowen.

Alexander Haege, Tamarama, NSW

Macquarie University law school may merely be acknowledging Aboriginal activism represents a legal gravy train (“Enforced group think disgraces academia”, 17/3).

Nick Palethorpe, Turramurra, NSW

Why is Peter Dutton shooting himself in the foot? The ideas of bringing government workers back to the office and a citizenship referendum have not gone down well. They say bad things come in threes. What’s next?

Ben Jenke, Bondi Beach, NSW

Voters, be aware a vote for teals is a vote for an Albanese-Bandt coalition – the weakest leader of a political party governing hand-in-hand with a divisive leader. Could anything be more alarming?

Sue Hofbauer, Randwick, NSW
