Last Post: Government yet to act on anti-Semitism

Mr Albanese, the Jews of your country are not OK. But your actionless condemnations of anti-Semitism, combined with Labor’s foreign policy and immigration policy, are working just perfectly to achieve the results we are now seeing.

Andrew Blitz, Yokine, WA

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.” The origin of this quote may be in doubt, but the meaning isn’t. It is perhaps a sentiment some Labor and Green politicians and university staff should heed in light of the escalating displays of anti-Semitism.

Carmen Heathcote, Carina, Qld

If our upcoming election results depended on which party was superior in spinning, ducking and weaving on difficult issues, and blame-throwing (“what we inherited from the previous government”), the Albanese government would win hands down.

A Benstock, Vaucluse, NSW

With your PM dithering around, and your Foreign Minister voting, not once, but three times, against Israel’s interest at the UN, a couple of steps ensue. Jewish people begin to lose confidence in their long-term “ally”; and violent cowards, with specific agendas, see an opening, and pounce – voila, anti-Semitism.

Rosemary O’Brien, Ashfield, NSW

Presumably, the voters who didn’t expect Trump to introduce tariffs also believe in the myths of low-cost renewables and the Easter bunny.

Geoff Farnell, Buderim, Qld

Trump is approaching this presidency like he ran his own, many failed, businesses; ie, like a mob boss. Don’t be fooled by his rhetoric about the Canadian border. He wants their oil and gas and simply doesn’t want to pay for it.

Sue Lester, Grange, SA

Australians should not be fooled into thinking that a drop in inflation means a lowering of prices. It means prices are rising slower than they were. The damage to our cost of living has already happened and will not be repaired until there is an increase in real wages.

Richard Allen, South Yarra, Vic

Labor says we will be worse off under Dutton but how is this even remotely possible? Labor has not done much to stop the cost-of-living crisis escalating, the next electricity price rise is on the way, government borrowings are about to explode in support of underwriting the cost of Labor’s renewables policy, and taxes, while appearing to have been reduced, have grown in real terms.

Tony Brownlee, Sydney, NSW
