Last Post: Government needs moral compass

Is there no depth Albo won’t sink to for a few western Sydney seats (“Bitterness set in motion”, 9/10)?

Alex Cleave, North Fremantle, WA

If anyone has any spare moral compass, could they please forward them to Anthony Albanese and his colleagues, along with an economic compass, as they have no idea what they’re doing on that front either.

Brian Barker, Bulimba, Qld

Albanese’s moral cowardice was on full display. On the first parliamentary sitting day after the anniversary of the horrific attacks by the terrorist group Hamas on Israeli citizens, the Prime Minister couldn’t even bring himself to propose a motion simply condemning the attacks and proclaiming the nation’s sympathy and support for our Jewish citizens.

David Hutchison, Campbelltown, SA

Had Small Business Minister Julie Collins announced that “Labor is the party of small business” a few years ago, you would have heard sniggers from the CFMEU and outright laughter from the small business owners (“Record number of small businesses go to the wall”, 9/10). Now you may just see the tears from the few small business owners who still have tears to shed.

John Colebatch, Kelso, NSW

Those on the left and Greens will be cheering mightily at this news. All those “evil” businesspeople going to the wall. Who would have thought! All part of the greater plan to make us into a government-controlled nation.

Julie Tadman, Upper Caboolture, Qld

The Prime Minister apologised for making an unfortunate comment concerning Tourette syndrome during question time. Did the frontbenchers who noticeably chuckled also apologise?

Roseanne Schneider, Toowoomba, Qld

Janet Albrechtsen is almost correct in rebadging the teals as limes, due to their greenish voting habits (“Gender card a loser for thin-skinned ‘lime’ teals”, 9/10). A more appropriate title would be bitter lemons, as they are bitter about everything, and their policy agenda reeks of a sour lemon.

Jim Millett, Kippa-Ring, Qld

A great piece by Janet Albrechtsen. Limes are not only green, some limes are yellow.

Mark Howard, Ballina, NSW

Thank you, Janet Albrechtsen, for giving us a new name for the teals: the limes.

Alison Copeman, Palm Beach, NSW
