Last Post: Gas crisis exposes our parlous energy policy
Interesting report on Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s desperation and denial of reality (“Gas crisis: Chris Bowen calls on reserves”, 1/7). So we need more fossil fuels – that is, gas – to help us move away from fossil fuels. Ri-i-i-i-i-ight!

Shaun Turner tells it like it is (“Speaking up is no cause for sack”, 1/7). He should be the new Liberal leader.

Talk about speaking truth to power. Breath of fresh air. Shaun Turner for prime minister.

Where is the moral base of a government that would tax “maybe/if” gains on an investment? How do you tax something that is not there? If you think this government won’t broaden this immoral concept to other investment structures, think again. It’ll be only a matter of time.

Have they forgotten about the young people killed or taken hostage on October 7, 2023, which started the war between Israel and Hamas?

The Chinese ambassador recommending Australia not spend more on defence is like a tennis player advising their opponent to stick with one racquet only while they swagger around the court with a dozen of the latest.

When we have our largest trading partner advising us not to increase defence spending, and our strongest ally demanding we increase, we have a conundrum far too difficult for Albo to resolve.
