Last Post: Deep end of technology fraught with risks
I suspect there could be Appropriation Initiative in Chinese AI (“Deep end: big tech’s disruption”, 29/1).

Technology Minister Ed Husic’s warning is timely. We should be very careful with DeepSeek.

Wouldn’t it be fun if President Donald Trump bought Australia instead of Greenland? He would let us exploit our resources, prune the public service, talk sense to the unions and de-woke us. He might baulk at Victoria, though.

A fine article by Paul Kelly (“Stand back, it’s the President as king”, 29/1). What will happen if the courts tell Trump he can’t do something, and he does it anyway?
Alan Payne, South Fremantle, WA

At last, a leader from the Pacific Islands stating the bleeding obvious about Australia’s climate responsibilities (“Pacific dose of green clarity”, 28/1).

Colin Rubenstein’s article (“A Faustian bargain, this ceasefire is not enough”, 28/1) notes that our PM and Foreign Minister “push two contradictory messages” about Gaza: ceasefire on the one hand and then, no role for Hamas in future governance, but they offer no solution to the terrorist hold of Hamas over Gaza.
