The logical counter-balance to freedom of religion is freedom from religion for that large component of our population who profess no faith. To that end, before it attempts to legislate in this contentious area, the Coalition might first move to abolish daily prayers in parliament, the swearing of oaths on the Bible, and all scripture classes in government schools.

The placing of Confucius institutes in our universities to be the soft propaganda arm of the Chinese Communist Party would have Confucius rolling in his grave. Confucius stood for nothing that the CCP holds dear. In fact the Cultural Revolution was, in part, about destroying the pervasive influence of Confucianism that existed in Chinese society at that time.
