Last Post: Bunnings sausage sizzle best test for a recession
Is there a recession looming? Two key economic indicators for the RBA to consider: shelves still stacked with Aldi ski gear a week from now, and lacklustre sausage sizzles at Bunnings.

We Aussies mourn the sad passing of Tina Turner and Joy McKean, two icons of rock and country music, within days of each other. Tina was embraced by our NRL footy community, while Joy and her late husband, Slim Dusty, were embraced within our remote Aboriginal community.
Both were much loved by all Aussies who love good music. Vale to two wonderful ladies.

I was in tears poring over the poignant Tina Turner coverage in The Australian. Then I listened to Mike and the Mechanics, The Living Years, a song long forgotten, that always brings back memories of my beloved late father. Thank you for evoking many emotions.

Please don’t tell me that Snowy Hydro is poised to be another chimera like the perpetual motion machines we’ve all heard about but which never work as claimed.

Truly, where does any judge get off thinking he can criticise with the crushing words, “disgusting, paternalistic, racist”, not a hapless person in a witness box, but a politician making a perfectly legitimate statement?
Judge Ian Harrison seems to have become too big for his wig, sorry, his boots, and I’m rather glad NSW Chief Justice Andrew Bell “ticked him off”. Such a charming old phrase.

I wonder if any of the signatories to the statement by the national sporting bodies in support of the voice are readers of The Australian.
If not, they might like to read Paul Kelly’s comprehensive and enlightening commentary of the Albanese government’s deceptive campaign to shame ordinary Australians into voting for the voice

I support the voice. But if the words “executive government” are included I will vote No. If they are excluded, I will vote Yes. Simple.

Anthony Albanese claims Peter Dutton is spreading misinformation about the voice.
Since the PM has released very little information, other than to say that it will make us feel good, it is difficult to see how he can make that claim.
