Last Post: Belt & Road map out of Coronaland

I get it now. Beijing’s Belt & Road Initiative will be in charge of the infrastructure required for Dan’s roadmap out of Coronaland (“Andrews’ roadmap: ‘eliminate business’”, 7/9).

Jennifer Ashton, Gold Coast, Qld

To avoid arrest, anti-lockdown protesters should rally under the banner “Bleak Lives Matter”.

Peter Davidson, Ashgrove, Qld

With all of the resources spent by Victoria Police on transgender friendly pronouns, queer theory and all-gender lockers, I am surprised they have the time to arrest and handcuff a non-threatening young pregnant woman (“Cops go with the flow on ‘fluid gender’”, 5-6/9).

Riley Brown, Bondi, NSW

I am puzzled why relatives are now always referred to as loved ones. This does not cover those relatives who do not fit this description.

Roseanne Schneider, Toowoomba, Qld

It looks as though Dan Andrews is primed to join that other great of Victorian economic devastation, John Cain, in the state’s pantheon of mis-managers. If the borders weren’t shut, you would already hear, just like in 1990, the roar of the long convoys of families heading north to Queensland for a new start.

Geoffrey O’Brien, Eltham, Vic

If Melbourne residents en-masse chose to resume normal activities this Saturday at 9am, how would that be policed?

Rex Womersley, Cairns, Qld

I am intrigued by the number of letters written by so many members of the medical profession who do not appear to fully agree with the medical advice that the premiers are referring to. Is this a case of ignoring those who work at the coalface?

LM Silbert, West Leederville, WA

Given Donald Trump’s penchant for telling untruths about his opponents (“Trump a tough but rewarding subject for journalists”, 7/9) it would be ironic if the report of his disparaging remarks about US servicemen has an effect on his support and is ultimately untrue.

Paul Connelly, Gawler South, SA

The native sugar glider is a major cause of the decline in swift parrot numbers (“Logging chopped by (almost) dead parrot”, 5/9). The glider invades the parrot’s nesting hollows in the old trees and kills the eggs and baby birds. Sustainable Timber Tasmania would have no control over this.

Peter Fagg, Blackburn, Vic

Good for you, Jennifer Oriel, standing up for Tony Abbott when others are hellbent on vilifying a man of principle who did many good things (“The truth hurts for women who hate Tony Abbott”, 7/9).

Helen Scheller, Benalla, Vic
