Last Post: Are expenses exceeding the rules?
Our Communications Minister seems to be Anika Travels Well.
Susan Peatfield, Brisbane, Qld
The Bureau of Meteorology’s outrageous expenditure and Anika Wells’s excessive airfares are just the latest in a line of troubles robbing the taxpayers.
Penni Seignior, Mudgeeraba, Qld
If the “expenses” incurred by Anika Wells are within the rules, then the rules need changing. If those expenses were added to my tax return they would be rejected by the Australian Taxation Office. If not good enough to be an expense in my business, they should not be appropriate in government.
Tony Hennessy, Casino, NSW
It seems both the Prime Minister and Anika Wells have trouble reading the room and passing the pub test.
Roseanne Schneider, Toowoomba, Qld
Anthony Albanese should look up hubris in his dictionary. It could be coming for him.
Mike Phipps, Noosaville, Qld
Anika Wells’s family travel arrangements may sit within guidelines but are well beyond community expectations.
George Fishman, Vaucluse, NSW

The key factors behind the high productivity from 1970s to early 2000s were competitively priced and reliable energy along with industrial relations conducive towards capital investment (“Mid-year update will be sensible, not a spendathon”, 8/12). We have gone backwards in all these.
Ron Hobba, Camberwell, Vic

Tom Smith, Bowral, NSW
If Australia is still looking for another opening batsman, why not Mitchell Starc?

So as the solar panels continue to burn, the surrounding air remains highly toxic producing an odious odour and affects wellbeing of those nearby (“Massive solar farm catches fire amid heatwave”, 8/12). Is this likely to happen at any solar farm, and is this progress?
Anne Lindsay, Stanthorpe, Qld
The energy transition is surely the biggest and costliest project ever undertaken in Australia since the original Snowy scheme. Are we not entitled to be given an idea of what the total cost will be?
K. MacDermott, Binalong, NSW
