It’s time to elevate Boland
Never again can the word boring be associated with Test cricket. Heartfelt thanks to visitors India and hosts, Australia. Magnificent!
Warwick Austin, Taren Pt, NSW
Surely the Australian selectors will see the light and make Scott Boland part of the XI. His average of 19.8 is better than Pat Cummins 22.6, Mitchell Starc 27.8 and Josh Hazlewood 24.6, and he is more accurate and can move the ball both ways. He should open the bowling, not be first change, as he is dangerous from the first ball.
Eric Hodge, Pearce, ACT
Always wondered why Scott Boland was not in the Test team after his magnificent debut. His bowling in the current Test should surely sway the selectors.
Penni Seignior, Mudgeeraba, Qld
These emotionally charged confrontations between Australian and Indian Test players? Sir, this is not cricket!

Anthony Albanese will rue the day he said that voting for the LNP would be a plunge into the dark. With his renewables we will know what being in the dark means, literally.

Could I make one bold prediction on the upcoming federal election, whenever it is held: should any major Australian city suffer blackouts, then, almost immediately, the election becomes unwinnable for Labor.
Rob Sinclair, Sydney
If Peter Dutton is looking to get a few seats over the line, he should listen to his Coalition partners and declare a freeze on beer tax for your first term of government if elected.
Ian Porter, Subiaco, WA
It must be comforting to some that Labor is right on nuclear power and the rest of the developed world is wrong. Not so comforting will be experiencing the results of their delusions.
Alex Cleave, Fremantle, WA
Would people stop blaming past governments for housing problems? The only thing that would solve our housing problem in Melbourne is more Richmonds, Brightons, Brunswicks and Doncasters. We cannot reproduce these suburbs within the tram network with short commutes. So dream on.

Thank you, Christopher Allen for your wonderfully enlightening Review article on the history of Australian migration and the derivation of words used to describe those migrants/settlers over the years.
