It’s time for some authority and discipline

I’ve had enough of our politicians playing in the streets. At least parliament brings some order of authority and discipline to their activities.

MF Horton, Forest Glen, Qld

We don’t have to worry at all about our nation’s defence because the next time the Chinese send a naval task group around the entire continent the Prime Minister will simply wave his Medicare card at them and that will make them go away.

Lidia, Dorinda and Fatima: don’t worry, he’s not my king either.

Ian Bernadt, Swanbourne, WA

Has anyone told Jim Chalmers that capital gains will not be able to be taxed upon realisation if they have already been taxed while they were unrealised?

Mary Hackshaw, Northwood, Vic

Is a winter of discontent and opportunism now to be imposed on all Tasmanians to decide?

Janet Albrechtsen writes “having a dog deserves its own term”. We’ve got soulmates, flatmates, teammates, so why not one for the only mate who’s always thrilled to see you? May I suggest tailmate? A true blue mate with a tail – loyal, unjudging and who never talks politics.

Andrew Strauss, Darling Pt, NSW

Thank you, Janet Albrechtsen, for your refreshing and beautiful article. What a wonderful antidote to so much of the awful news we are receiving from around the world today. Vale Huxley.

Judith Kellaway, Urangan, Qld

Thank you, Janet Albrechtsen. Little dogs are just versions of larger ones and fill the same big place in our hearts.

Penni Seignior, Mudgeeraba, Qld

Is it a coincidence that you shouldn’t wear signature black clothes and a baseball cap when visiting Donald Trump in the Oval Office? Look what happened to the last two who did.

David Nankiville, Brighton, Vic

In the US, it is inevitable that two giant egos such as Trump and Musk would eventually clash and degenerate into bitterness and mud-slinging.

Ken Moore, Chapel Hill, Qld
