Do you think Adam Bandt gets it now?
It’s quirky how the Labor Party has dominated Queensland state politics for decades, being in government 25 of the past 30 years, but only has five of the 30 federal seats. Only in Queensland!
Kevin Burke, Sandringham, Vic
No smiles from Miles. No manners, just clangers.

Could the nation now finally see an end to the Green ayatollahs?

Adam Bandt and his out-of-touch Canberra colleagues have contributed to the Greens’ demise in Queensland and one can only hope this will be repeated at the federal election.

Steven Miles’s election night speech was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Instead of the customary congratulating of David Crisafulli, he tediously went through a shopping list of his debt-fuelled policies that had been rejected by Queensland voters, and lauded how good they were. It was a weird and charmless performance.
Dennis Walker, North Melbourne, Vic
It is refreshing to see the effect of preferencing in the Queensland election. It may have given an extra seat to Steven Miles, but anything is better than the Greens. Would our PM please take note.
Kent Carter, Floreat, WA
Letter writer Jim Taylor brilliantly summed up Queenslanders’ election day choice last week as “gormless, gutless or, worse still, green” (Last Post, 25/10). Fortunately, after the weekend, the gormless got gutted, gutless got the gig and the Greens appear gangrenous. Win-win-win.

Finocchiaro in the Northern Territory and Crisafulli in Queensland. For a while I thought I was on to something: a scheme for selecting effective political leaders. But then I realised the method also produced Albanese and Pesutto.
Terry Birchley, Bundaberg, Qld
When will the Allan Labor government wake up that WFH may be utopia for workers but is failing the very people the public service is supposed to be serving?
John Pohlman, Peopold, Vic
I wonder if the rejected Blayney gold mine was replaced with a solar and wind turbine hub, whether the blue banded bee might object?
