‘Bowen in the wind’

Another day, another futuristic promise in a $2.3bn “battery plan”. Seems to me this government’s energy policies really are just “Bowen in the wind”.

John Mullavey, Howrah, Tas

It’s frustrating listening to politicians and their promises, which they know they will not or cannot keep. The business community cannot engage in misleading or deceptive conduct. Good luck to federal election candidates as they face the usual runny noses and dirty washing of an election campaign. A further tradition could come with a few eggs being cast.

MF Horton, Forest Glen, Qld

Surely the investment into one’s own home is a far better investment for our society than paying a compulsory contribution into a fund that is controlled by others, with no guarantee of a return.

Geoff Davey, St Lucia, Qld

In an uninspiring election campaign so far, Labor’s only response appears to be “press the Dutton button”. Surely the electorate deserves more.

Barry Noonan, Balwyn North, Vic

What does it think causes inflation? Just ask small businesses.

Barry Preston, Albury, NSW

Why was it ever a good idea to lease Port Darwin to the Chinese? And why are Albanese and Dutton pledging to get it back, and what kept them?

Roseanne Schneider, Toowoomba, Qld

Channelling Nero, President Trump fiddles about on the golf course, while world free-trade agreements go up in flames.

Jim Taylor, Brisbane, Qld

Donald Trump is showing that globalisation and free trade have resulted in many countries not being able to look after themselves.
