Trouble in McParadise as Trump’s fast food love tested by Twitter
And Trump looks to Merkel for a helping hand on his Obama wire-tap claims.
US President Donald Trump was a wee bit confused during his joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The White House, Friday:
America is a great company ... country.
One great US company made their feelings on President Trump very, very clear. McDonald’s official Twitter account, Thursday:
You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands.
Donald and McDonald’s breakup is heart-wrenching. CNN Town Hall, February 18 last year:
Anderson Cooper: When you roll up at McDonald’s, what does Donald Trump order?
Donald Trump: The Fish Delight sometimes. The Big Macs are great, the Quarter Pounders with cheese.
Trump even did an advert for them. He loved you, Macca’s, he loved you. AV Club, July 19 last year:
The series of commercials ... star Trump as himself and pimp a $1 Big N’ Tasty, a sandwich originally designed to compete with Burger King’s Whopper. In the ads, which ran in 2002 and are as dumb as they sound, Trump seems astonished that Grimace, a character with essentially no brain and no backstory, is managing to sell the Big N’ Tasty “for just a dollar,” though he does note in one ad that purple is a “very powerful” colour.
Trump fans are angry. CBS News Detroit, Thursday:
Supporters of President Donald Trump are pressing for a boycott of McDonald’s ...
Trump wanted to introduce Macca’s to Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The O’Reilly Factor, August 24, 2015:
I would not be throwing him a dinner. I would get him a McDonald’s hamburger ... I’d give him probably a double size Big Mac.
Was Trump’s immigration ban the last straw for Macca’s migrant workers? CBS News Detroit, continued:
... many McDonald’s restaurants shut down Feb. 16 on “a day without immigrants,” though it was unclear if it was a company stance on behalf of immigrants or a move forced by lack of workers at many locations. The day without immigrants protest was in response to Trump’s immigration agenda ...
McDonald’s say they were hacked! Come back, Mr President! Macca’s loves you! Twitter, Friday:
Based on our investigation, we have determined that our Twitter account was hacked by an external source.
And Trump wants Merkel to back him up over claims Obama wiretapped him. The White House, Friday:
As far as wire-tapping I guess by this past administration, at least we have something in common perhaps.
Don’t mention the wire-taps. BBC News online, Friday:
US intelligence agencies under Mr Obama reportedly monitored Mrs Merkel’s phone, sparking an angry response.
Trump says his claim British intelligence also wiretapped him was based off a Fox News report. White House, continued:
That was a statement made by a very talented lawyer on Fox ... you shouldn’t be talking to me, you should be talking to Fox.
But Fox say they never ran the story. Chief anchor Bret Baier, Friday:
The Fox News division was never able to back up those claims ...
