Rhiannon calls for Greens to emulate Corbyn and Sanders

And could a face-off between Saudi Arabia and Qatar finally kill off Al Jazeera?`

Lee Rhiannon want to be Australia’s Jeremy Corbyn. The NSW Greens senator on Insiders, yesterday:

There are mass movements on the rise and we need to be part of it.

The US ”mass movement” didn’t do that well under Bernie Sanders. Wall Street Journal, June 7 last year:

Mrs. (Hillary) Clinton won the biggest states ... She also won the most votes: 15.5 million, compared with 11.9 million for Mr. Sanders.

And, despite the coverage, Corbyn didn’t win the UK general election. London’s The Sun, Thursday:

Theresa May is finally confirmed as PM ... The Prime Minister won the support of 323 MPs in the Queen’s speech debate, with 309 opposing her

To be fair, those old lefties outperformed the Australian Greens. The Australian, July 13 last year:

The Greens’ vote in the Senate has fallen in every state apart from Queensland ... Nationally, the Greens have suffered a 0.9 per cent swing against them in the Senate ...

Rhiannon on Insiders, yesterday:

I have been disappointed in Richard (Di Natale)’s leadership ...

Greens senator Nick McKim takes Di Natale’s side. Twitter, yesterday:

Remember, all of our party room bar one acknowledged a problem. Richard is showing great leadership taking this on.

Sure you’re on the right side, Nick? Ean Higgins in The Weekend Australian, Saturday:

A Greens source observes that by trying to sanction and isolate her, Di Natale “has only made Lee Rhiannon one of the most identifiable politicians in Australia” ... which protagonist would you rather be, the one with the support of a handful of members of a very small party room or the one with the solid backing of thousands of members and voters in NSW and beyond?

She’s already doing her best Corbyn impression with her anti-Israel views. Insiders, yesterday:

Barrie Cassidy: ... (you) talk about a boycott on Israel and they practice apartheid like South Africa did?

Lee Rhiannon: I am not the only one that says that about Israel ...

Corbyn launches a report into anti-Semitism in the British Labour Party. London, June 29 last year:

Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel ... than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states ...

Rhiannon’s been on the anti-Israel bus for ages. Daily Telegraph, May 16 last year:

Lee Rhiannon used her Senate printing allowance to print and authorise posters to promote a pro-Palestinian rally in Sydney yesterday..

Talking of anti-Israel views, Al Jazeera is facing the axe. Britain’s The Observer, yesterday:

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt subjected Qatar to unprecedented diplomatic and economic sanctions, followed by an aggressive blockade and threats of further action if Qatar fails to meet a list of 13 demands, one of which is to shut down the al-Jazeera network.

No more on-air birthday parties for anti-Semitic terrorists? Oh no ... what a shame ... Haaretz, August 6, 2008:

The head of Israel’s Government Press Office said Al Jazeera would get only minimal services until it provided a “reasonable answer” about a program which featured a birthday party for (Samir) Kuntar, who spent 29 years in an Israeli jail for a 1979 attack in which five Israelis were killed.
