Nazi seems to be the hardest word as Trump fails to thump white supremacists

US President Donald Trump totally condemns MSNBC host Mika Brezinksi on Twitter, June 29:

I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika ... came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!

President Trump totally condemns acting legend Meryl Streep on Twitter, January 9:

Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes.

And Trump totally condemns white supremacists in Virginia ... Kind of ... not really ... the President in New Jersey, yesterday:

We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides.

Many sides? Wall Street Journal, yesterday:

After a morning of confrontations, a car slammed into a group of people demonstrating against the white nationalists on Saturday afternoon, killing a 32-year-old female pedestrian and injuring 19. Of the injured who were brought to the University of Virginia Medical Center, five were in critical condition and four were in serious condition, according to a spokeswoman.

There was only one side here, mate. The New York Times, yesterday:

The planned rally was promoted as “Unite the Right” and both its organisers and critics said they expected it to be one of the largest gatherings of white nationalists in recent times, attracting groups like the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis ...

Trump in New Jersey, yesterday:

It has been going on for a long time in our country — not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama.

It’s not all about you, Donald. The Washington Post, yesterday:

Counterprotesters held “Black Lives Matter” signs ... as they faced rallygoers who waved Confederate flags and posters that said “the Goyim know,” referring to non-Jewish people, and “the Jewish media is going down.”

Actual Nazis are parading on American streets and threatening Jews. The New York Times, yesterday:

Waving Confederate flags, chanting Nazi-era slogans ... the white nationalists converged on the (Confederate general Robert E.) Lee statue inside the park and began chanting phrases like “You will not replace us” and “Jews will not replace us.”

Trump’s been strong on the need to call out Islamic extremism for what it is. The second presidential debate, October 9 last year:

These are radical Islamic terrorists, and (Hillary Clinton) won’t even mention the word.

The Australian’s editorial, June 1:

... other political leaders often prefer nondescript terms such as violent extremism rather than calling out Islamic extremism. This represents a timidity that’s hard to fathom.

We need to call out these extremists too. US Republican senator Orrin Hatch on Twitter, yesterday:

We should call evil by its name. My brother didn’t give his life fighting Hitler for Nazi ideas to go unchallenged here at home.

Why are you being so quiet, Donald? The New York Times, yesterday:

Many of the white nationalist protesters carried campaign signs for Mr. Trump.
