Kevin Rudd laments that the PM didn’t speak about the Chinese the way he did

Racists! Jack Latimore, Guardian Australia, yesterday:

There’s no question that Australia is a far more racist country than its political class like to admit … Australia is deplorably racist. It was founded on a racist document and hasn’t improved … a racial ideology that’s seemingly in perpetual motion in this country … has been present since … the arrival of “enlightened” Europeans roughly 250 years ago. The recent surge in racism merely stems from this blight … In the past fortnight alone (there have been) concerted attacks by Australian racists on media figures such as (failed Greens candidate) Osman Faruqi …

White people are f..ked! Michaela Whitbourn, The Sydney Morning Herald, October 18 last year:

“Dude wtf is happening …?” Muslim activist and television host Yassmin Abdel-Magied tweeted at Faruqi (on) July 27. “The white people are getting f---ed Yas, it’s happening,” Faruqi replied. Abdel-Magied replied: “Hahahaha. Look, they wanted people to go back to where they came from … and didn’t realise it included them too?”

Racist white trash! Rebecca Urban, The Australian, August 9:

(During a violent street brawl in Melbourne one African said to a local resident) “What are you looking at, you white trash? Don’t be shocked if we raid your house” … “I said don’t come around here causing trouble,” (another resident said to an African kicking her fence). “Then her friend said, “you’re racist”.

Who’s hypocritical? abc.net.au, August 9:

It has been just over a year since Chelsea Manning was released from federal prison, after being convicted of the largest leak of classified information in US history Now she … (is) fighting for … data privacy … She (also) said the United States was being “a little hypocritical” about the issue of election interference. “The United States often intervenes in foreign elections,” she said.

How homeless are people with homes who don’t see themselves as homeless? Anna Caldwell, The Daily Telegraph, August 10:

(A)bout 16,000 people (about 45 per cent of all homeless people in NSW, are) technically classified as “homeless” because they are crammed into severely crowded bedrooms they share. (NSW Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward said,) “Often people living in severely overcrowded houses will not see themselves as being homeless …”

Diplomatic disaster! Kevin Rudd, Sydney Morning Herald, August 10:

The spectacle of (Malcolm Turnbull’s) grovelling mea culpa to Beijing … may well make matters worse. If the stakes weren’t so high, it would almost be comical … Turnbull delivered his infamous national call to arms against the Chinese … (last year) by proclaiming, in his own appalling Chinese, that “the Australian people have now stood up” … if a single public phrase was designed to cause maximum offence to the Chinese … our Malcolm hit the nail right on the head. The phrase mimicked one purportedly used by Mao in October 1949 … By parodying this phrase, Turnbull set out to publicly insult the Chinese government. And he succeeded … This brings us to Turnbull’s belated address … this week … there are multiple conciliatory phrases … that would have been explicitly agreed with the Chinese government … This is confirmed by the positive remarks by the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman straight after the Turnbull speech.

Diplomacy Rudd-style. The Party Thieves: The Real Story of the 2010 Election, Barrie Cassidy:

Rudd had naively believed that he could persuade the Chinese to sign a binding agreement on reduced carbon emissions. That was never going to happen … as reality dawned, … in full hearing of journalists, (Rudd) said, “Those Chinese f..kers are trying to ratf..k us.”
