Feminist lawyer who led charge against Trump advised disgraced Hollywood producer

Celebrity US lawyer Lisa Bloom speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine, July 3:

There is still a great deal of misogyny and sexism, but there are also a lot of women standing up for our rights. The only thing I can do is go on to my next case because there are so many more.

Bloom has made a career out of bringing down America’s most powerful men. Politico, November 4 last year:

A woman who accused Donald Trump of raping her two decades ago when she was a 13-year-old aspiring teen model has again dropped a federal lawsuit ... Bloom said Trump’s accuser had received threats and was too frightened to show up.

Hollywood Reporter, April 19:

It’s been less than 24 hours since attorney Lisa Bloom announced she had a new client who phoned in a complaint to Fox News that Bill O’Reilly leered at her ... but he’s already off the air and she’s declaring victory.

She’s committed to stamping out sexual harassment in the American right. Bloom, in the Hollywood Reporter, April 26:

I wanted to represent people who actually needed help. I always knew I wanted to fight for the underdog.

So why has she been hanging out with Harvey Weinstein? The New York Times, Friday:

Ms Bloom, who has been advising Mr Weinstein over the last year on gender and power dynamics, called him “an old dinosaur learning new ways”.

Bloom writing about President Trump for The Huffington Post, June 29:

What do you call a nation that refuses to even look at sexual assault claims against a man seeking to lead the free world? Rape culture. We ignore the voices of women at our peril.

What do you call a person who defends a disgraced Hollywood titan despite calling herself an advocate for women? The New York Times, Friday:

An investigation by The New York Times found previously undisclosed allegations against Mr Weinstein stretching over nearly three decades ...

Mr Weinstein has reached at least eight settlements with women ...

And, boy, is Weinstein a titan ... Variety, yesterday:

Weinstein’s awards season presence is often felt beyond his on-screen contenders. He holds an annual pre-Oscars bash at the Montage Beverly Hills, where illuminaries (sic) like Oprah Winfrey and business leaders like Amazon chief Jeff Bezos have been guests. Last February, Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Lin-Manuel Miranda attended the soiree.

Bloom’s mum and legendary US lawyer Gloria Allred, in Variety, Saturday:

Had I been asked by Mr Weinstein to represent him, I would have declined.

Bloom’s past advice to women in dire straits, in Cosmopolitan magazine, July 3:

Call a good feminist lawyer ... Find the strongest, most confident and centred woman you know to be at your side.

That woman is not Lisa Bloom. Weinstein’s adviser on Good Morning America, Friday:

I’m working with a guy who has behaved badly over the years ...

But it looks like she’s taking Ma’s advice. Bloom on Twitter, Saturday:

I have resigned as an adviser to Harvey Weinstein.
